Once Dr. Baland Iqbal had a dream to create a virtual volunteer hospital in the memory of his loving parents, Himayat Ali Shair and Meraj Nasim. This dream has become reality in the form of the Meraj Nasim Virtual Hospital & Himayat Ali Shair Foundation, created with the strong support of his family members and friends.
Dr. Baland Iqbal has been practicing medicine in Canada for last 20 years. He graduated in Medicine from the Dow University of Health Science, Pakistan. He completed his post-graduation in Internal Medicine from New York Medical College, New York, and Fellowship from the Oregon Health Science University, USA. His major areas of interest involve in-patient care including Cardiovascular, Pulmonary, and Metabolic diseases as well as Geriatric Medicine. At the moment he is attached as the Chief Hospitalist of Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, Ontario.
Other than medicine practice, another passion of Dr. Baland Iqbal’s is creative writing and discussions on philosophical, political, social and psychological issues on South Asian TV channels in Canada. He is the author of Angel’s Tears, My 51 Short Stories, All of my Love Letters and Broken Wall. He is currently presenting the academic TV program “The Library with Dr. Baland Iqbal” on Canada One TV, Toronto.
