The Meraj Nasim Memorial Virtual Hospital and Himayat Ali Shair Foundation is a prestigious gift to the public from two very loving personalities. The legacy of Himayat Ali Shair has had many dimensions, which have all been reflected through his creative writings. Whether it was his progressive poetry or insightful prose, whether it was his memorable movies or his immortal song-writing, whether it was his profound stage-plays or his impactful teaching, one thing was common in every aspect: a love for humanity. His whole life was a struggle against the backward values of Pakistani society and a journey towards a modern world while also respecting Eastern tradition. The scholar’s utopian dream was one that created pillars to a true society based on equality and compassion. No doubt Meraj Nasim was behind the Shair, giving him the courage to fulfill his dreams. It’s evident that their shared dreams were to see humanity lifted to a noble standard. This hospital may be an example of such a dream, where a common man can receive free help for his medical issues. Nothing is nobler than saving someone’s life with your expertise.. there’s a Quranic verse that comes to mind: “Saving one life is as if saving the whole of humanity.” – Quran 5:32.
